Extras - Firefox 2
What about the added little bits and bobs that go into making Firefox the fastest growing browser on the interweb?
The browser has always had RSS support, but this is now improved a little from version 1.5. You can still hit the little symbol in the address bar to pull up the in-browser reader. However, you can now choose to add the feed to a third party RSS reader of your choice and manage the subscription. This is a pretty nifty feature if you're big on RSS.
Firefox 2 has a built-in spell checker that should check any web form you enter text into. However, for the life of us, we couldn't get it working. We couldn't find any option relating to it anywhere, and it certainly didn't work automatically. We tried installing Firefox 2 on a vanilla Windows XP machine, and no luck there either. Bizarrely, other people on the net appear to have it working, so we couldn't for the life of us work out what was wrong. Bad speelong sucks.
Firefox 2 has a new feature that will offer you suggested searches based on what you've already keyed in. Not exactly a great feature, we'd suggest, since it mostly just seems to fill in the words you were already typing, rather than actually suggest something new and useful.
Of course, there's all the usual bookmark management and extensions too - although many extensions will need to be updated to work in Firefox 2.
